Caroh Jewelry by Caroline Ohrt

I am a Copenhagen-based jeweller, working with upcycled and repurposed materials to create contemporary jewellery rooted in mindfulness and care. My practice explores how value is shaped in today’s consumer culture, transforming discarded and overlooked materials into objects of lasting presence.

With a background in art and fashion, I found my way to jewellery through materials and making.
After completing my Master’s degree in Fashion at the Royal College of Art in London, I began working with accessories, headpieces, and body jewellery — a space where experimentation became play, and jewellery slowly revealed itself as my true language. In 2019, this path came into focus, and jewellery became the centre of my practice and future explorations of story telling.

Returning to Copenhagen in 2020, I was awarded the Artist Work Grant from Statens Kunstfond, which allowed me to deepen my commitment to the craft. I spent three years studying under goldsmith Gitte Bjørn, refining my skills working with Metals and learning to listen closely to materials — their resistance, their fragility, and their potential for transformation.

My ongoing project, Caroh Jewelry, is grounded in slow processes and conscious craftsmanship. Each piece is handmade in Copenhagen using recycled sterling silver and upcycled glass bottles, sometimes donated by clients, carrying their own emotional histories. Through careful reworking, these materials are shaped into refined, modern forms. Guided by simplicity, texture, and longevity, my work reflects a Scandinavian sensibility — quiet yet with an edge — where waste is reimagined as value, and form becomes a vessel for our stories.

Each piece is made with great care, from the first shaping of the material to the final polish. By keeping the production small and personal, I am able to give full attention to every detail and to the unique character of each piece. This process not only ensures high quality and longevity, but also creates jewellery that carries presence, meaning, and a sense of connection — made to be worn, lived with, and cherished over time.

The

Process

I design with intention—balancing sculptural presence and everyday wearability—so that every piece feels both bold and timeless. By focusing on clarity of form rather than excess, I create jewelry that speaks quietly, but with a lasting impact and confident voice. The

Production

All jewellery is made by me at my studio in the heart of Copenhagen. I work with a no stock, no waste philosophy, meaning each piece is created especially for the individual client and crafted made to order. This approach allows me to work slowly and intentionally, producing only what is needed and avoiding unnecessary waste — one of many conscious choices behind a more responsible way of running a jewellery practice.
